Hihi.  It took a while for me to find the 'new group post' link, so here's how to get there:

1) Go to 'Create Content -> Group Stuff -> Group Post' on the left sidebar, click 'Group Post'.

2) Enter the message and title.

3) Select the group at the bottom.  Cross-posting is probably a bad thing.

About me:  I'm in the Capitol Hill area, and looking for a group that is close-by and open-minded.  If you've got a group that's short on players, or are forming a group, then email me at nyutwo at gmail dot com.

Let me know how I could have

Let me know how I could have made it easier or more logical... if you can tell me where you THOUGHT it should have been, maybe I can do something. Or maybe there just needs to be a HELP - Groups on them menu?

Enjoy your group, sorry for intruding.

James

Not logical, but intuitive

The first place the 'create new post' link should show up is at the left when a group is selected.  Preferably right above the RSS feed box.  I would leave the options you have now in existence, but add more ways to get to it where it makes sense for the context.

In general, you should aim for making the most common actions for the page you're viewing require the fewest clicks, and to always put them in a box right under the main menu on the sidebar.  As a further suggestion, instead of loading the menu as it is expanded, make it statically-generated when the page is, so that it is fast.  It will reduce your server traffic and also be much easier to use.  I recommend browsing the site with a proxy so that you can more easily see the effects of network latency.

The user home page should have direct links to all the social groups they've joined.  The RPGNews.com box should be on that page, not anywhere else.  I'm not sure about the forums...  it seems odd to have two different mechanisms for posting messages to other members.  Merging the forums and the social groups might be a good idea, perhaps by pushing the group information into a subforum called 'Social Groups'.  Then anyone that wants to use the more familiar forum interface could participate in the groups without having to learn a new interface.

On the bright side, you are doing a LOT of things intuitively already, like the breadcrumbs.  Social groups are a good new way of organizing members.  The default template is readable without much eyestrain.
