One of the new features readers will see when they download the next issue of Knowledge Arcana is a new Living Campaign format. Adventures from this author will be created with two new features. Modular Components and an Interactive Story. Like I have stated in the past, the inspiration for the new Living Knowledge Arcana campaigns is coming from Warhammer Online's Realm vs. Realm gameplay. When a new LKA adventure is released the issue will contain not one, but two sides to the same adventure, and players will be allowed to decide who they are fighting for. This is part of the Interactive Story feature that Knowledge Arcana will be introducing. The adventures will coincide and occur at the same time, providing some intersting methods of game play. Because the new adventures will occur at the same time, players can get together and play both adventures in different rooms, then possibley meet their counterparts on the game table for some PvP action. When a group gets together and plays the adventure they can submit feedback to the magazine writers on which side they played and how they faired in their game. If enough feedback from the readers is submitted then the next chapter in the magazine will reflect that feedback. This Interactive Story feature is something that I want players to get involved in. It will give players of the game an opportunity to feel like their character has an effect in the world. The feedback submitted doesn't need to be just who wins in their adventure, the feedback can also be fun moments that happened in the game and these fun moments can appear in future chapters. Because the adventures will often times be acts of war the players will not be the only ones acting in the adventures. The players are the main characters who advance the story line, but it is unlikely they will be able to without the support of non-player characters. This is one way Modular Components will be introduced in issue 13. Adventures will contain side stories, the Modular Component, that is not required for players to act out because non-player characters will act out that story. Yet, the Game Master will have the opportunity to write that section for the players to run, and future editions of the magazine will publish written Modular Components. This is just some of the new offerings from the new Knowledge Arcana. All of this activity will being in Domer'el and the adventures will expand into other regions. New villains and heroes will be introduced as well as artifacts, classes, maneuvers, and side stories. And most of this stuff doesn't even need to stay in the world it was created in. So I hope you have as much fun with the new material I as will writing it. Bookmark/Search this post with: |
