Books about Writing

Send to friendPrinter-friendly version

What are your favorite and/or most useful books on the craft of writing?

A few of mine:

45 Master Characters by Victoria Schmidt

On Writing Horror by the HWA

Screenplay by Syd Field

Elements of Expression by Arthur Plotnik

On Writing by Stephen King

Not only do these come in handy for actually writing horror and dark fantasy fiction, but I've found each of them useful as a GM when I'm writing up a new adventure or doing some world-building.

What about you?

I've just started reading

I've just started reading Description and Setting from the Write Great Fiction Series and am enjoying it so far. From what I've read, the rest of the books in the series are pretty good too (based upon the Amazon reviews).

It has been many years since I've done any writing and I'm looking for some good books for writing.
